Hello, I’m Katrina and I’m glad you’re here.

I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals through addiction, recovery, trauma, mental health challenges, child protection involvement, and major life transitions. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, and personal lived experience.

I’ve been in recovery from drug addiction for over 17 years, and my journey deeply informs how I connect with others. My struggles with drug use began in my teens, escalating from casual partying to daily use. Over the years, I went through detox, outpatient and inpatient treatment, and multiple hospitalizations. During the final trimester of my pregnancy, I relapsed and lost custody of my daughter at birth. That day became my first day clean.

My healing journey included navigating OCD, anxiety, and depression, as well as the immense grief and shame of having my daughter placed in foster care. I fought to regain custody, and I did. That experience shaped me and inspired my path toward helping others feel seen, supported, and never judged.

I didn’t become a social worker by accident. I became one because I know what it’s like to hit rock bottom.

Today, my daughter is thriving, and I continue to build a life rooted in recovery, family, and purpose.

Professionally, I hold a Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) and specialize in trauma-informed, solution-focused care using modalities such as narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, EFT, MI, somatic therapy, and holistic recovery strategies and coaching. I’ve worked in a range of settings including a sexual assault centre, youth medical clinic, and immigrant/refugee support agency.

I’ve also worked extensively within the child protection system, as a front-line social worker and a team leader, supporting families through complex, high-stress situations. These roles gave me a deep understanding of the trauma families can experience within the system and strengthened my commitment to non-judgmental, trauma-informed care. In addition, I have worked as an Advocate for an independent office of the legislature, where I supported children, youth and families navigating government systems.

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the BC College of Social Workers (BCCSW), the regulatory body responsible for protecting the public and upholding standards of ethical, competent practice in British Columbia.

When I’m not working, you’ll often find me spending quality time with my daughter and our two dogs. Whether we’re exploring the outdoors or simply relaxing together at home, these moments are some of my favourites. My family (furry friends included!) reminds me daily of the importance of connection, play, and being present.

Whether you’re navigating recovery, mental health, parenting challenges, or life transitions, my goal is to offer a safe space and walk alongside you, with empathy and respect. Healing is possible, and no one is ever too far gone to begin again.
