Insurance & Extended Health Coverage
Therapy with a Registered Social Worker (RSW) is often covered under extended health plans.
- I do not offer direct billing at this time
- I will provide a receipt with all the info needed to submit your claim
Please check with your insurance provider to confirm your coverage
As a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in British Columbia, I provide therapy that helps you process trauma, addiction, and life challenges. Within therapy sessions, I also integrate coaching-style tools such as:
- Goal setting and accountability check-ins
- Relapse prevention and recovery planning
- Practical strategies for building healthy routines
- Support in creating lasting change
These tools help you take insights from therapy and turn them into actionable steps in daily life. While they may look like coaching, these sessions are provided and billed as therapy, following professional standards of confidentiality and ethics.
In person companion support and the monthly accountability rate are non-clinical and are not covered by extended health insurance. All such services are self-pay only.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer in-person sessions?
All therapy and coaching sessions are currently offered virtually. In-person services are only available for sober transport, recovery companionship, or event accompaniment, based on availability.
What can I expect in my first session?
We’ll explore your reasons for reaching out, what you’d like support with, and begin shaping a plan tailored to your goals.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 50 or 80 minutes. Longer options are available by request.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a free 15-minute call or virtual session so you can ask questions and get a feel for working together.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payment is due before each session by e-transfer or credit card. For packages and monthly services, payment is collected in advance.
Can I cancel or reschedule a session?
Yes, with at least 24 hours’ notice. See below for full cancellation details.
How are therapy intensives different from regular sessions?
A regular session is 50–80 minutes and focuses on step-by-step progress. An intensive is several hours (or multiple days) of concentrated work that allows us to go much deeper, faster — often making the kind of progress that could take months in weekly therapy.
What happens if I need more than 200 minutes in a month for the monthly accountability rate?
You’re welcome to add extra sessions at my standard 50-minute rate, or we can discuss adjusting your plan to better fit your needs.
How do you protect my confidentiality?
All sessions are hosted on secure, encrypted platforms. Notes and client information are stored securely and used only for your care. Please see my privacy policy for more details.
What should I prepare before my first session?
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you can focus. Some clients like to bring a notebook or jot down their goals or topics they’d like to cover, but it’s not required.
When are in-person services available?
I offer select evening and weekend availability for in-person recovery companionship. Specific times are discussed during the booking process so we can find a schedule that works for both of us.
What payment methods do you accept?
Jane is the secure booking and payment system I use to manage sessions. It allows you to book appointments online, receive reminders, and pay safely by card or Interac Debit.
For your convenience, I accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Do you accept e-transfers, cash, or cheques?
I accept e-transfers but not cash or cheques.
Is my payment information safe?
Yes. Payments are processed through Jane Payments, which uses bank-level encryption and meets strict PCI compliance standards. Your card details are never stored on my system.
Will I receive a receipt for insurance?
Absolutely. A detailed receipt is automatically provided after each payment. This receipt includes all the information needed for extended health insurance reimbursement in Canada.
