Refreshing an outdated space transforms it into a destination that’s functional, inspiring, and leaves a lasting impression.

Our clients for this project owned an old Shanghai apartment and came to us with a vision to turn it into a unique, appealing rental property they could advertise on Airbnb. There were several challenges to address in the existing design including wasted corridor space, a cramped bathroom, a lack of storage space, and an inefficient kitchen layout.

In the main entryway, we designed a mirrored coat closet with a seating area, which added functionality and a touch of luxury for guests from the moment they step foot inside.

Reconfiguring the kitchen allowed us to install a small breakfast bar with a waterfall countertop, a new coffee bar, and additional pantry cabinets to create an inviting space to gather and prepare meals.

In the primary living room and dining area, we designed custom cabinetry to run the length of the room, unify the two spaces, and create a dedicated space for the TV. The minimalist style and craftsmanship brought a newfound comfort and functionality to the space.

Repositioning the entrances of the bedrooms to the end of the hall added more privacy and accommodated a shared wall for a new walk-in closet in the primary bedroom and a closet wall for the secondary bedroom.

This entire project took two months from concept to completion. Our client enjoyed the finished design so much that he decided to move into the apartment himself instead of renting it out.
